Where am I even meant to begin...

Okay I guess I'll just set the scene. According to my 3DS's activity log, I first started playing Pokémon: Ultra Sun in late 2023 because I wanted to get into Pokémon and I remembered playing the demo with Ash Greninja and y'know. I have the hardware and my 3DS is modded it was cheap completely free. I can't remember if I wanted to actually play through a Pokémon game because I'd started watching Pokémon: Horizons or if that came later, but at its heart it was just to reconnect with my inner child. I didn't even enjoy Pokémon as a kid, like, I liked the character designs but that was about it. Anyway this was my attempt to stop feeling like a fake fan with my Meowth charm on my 3DS from the ye olde days of 2012.

I don't live under a rock so I knew about the Internet's reaction to Incineroar and empathised with the 50% of Litten enjoyers who felt cheated at yet another starter going from quadrupedal small animal to bipedal man who pays rent (foreshadowing). I decided to pick Litten anyway because I like cats and even in the days of playing Roblox Pokémon clones I knew that fire was the best type if you don't care about status changing moves and only care about lowering your opponent's health (I'm still like this, I refuse to give any of my Pokémon a move that does no damage. Fight me). I decided I'd just give it an everstone when it evolved into Torracat and lamented not being able to give it any Z-Crystals and therefore being unable to use the batte gimmick that the entirety of Generation 7 is based around. FIFTY HOURS IN I REALISED YOU CAN JUST SPAM 'B'. WHAT THE HELL GAMEFREAK WHERE WAS I MEANT TO FIND THIS OUT. Anyway the Torracat in my save now rocks a Firium Z.

I decided to name my partner Litfam☆ (all my Pokémon get a little ☆ after their name I just think it's cute) This is purely because I thought the game would announce "It's Lit Fam!" whenever I released it from the pokeball but that didn't happen and I couldn't be bothered to go through the faff of changing it. Similar naming fails happened when I went through every term for marijuana trying to name my Sprigatito in Pokémon Scarlet and had to settle on Grass☆ which is fucking pathetic. Moving on, I absolutely fell in love with this fucking cat. I don't know who at the Pokémon Company I have to thank for inventing the friendship mechanic and Pokémon Refresh but I would dedicate my first born to them. 'Litfam☆ toughed it out so you wouldn't feel sad!' T-T How am I meant to cope with that. I know this animal is a bundle of 1s and 0s at the end of the day but I dont care. He likes to be pet in specific areas. They coded in where the Pokémon like to be stroked. What the fuck. You had to be heartless to come out of playing those games without an attachment to your party. ALSO ALSO, I was absolutely devastated that your Pokémon don't look back at you in SV? Either that or my SV Pokémon hate me but I feel like that was one of the best parts of battling in Ultra Sun for me

As this fire cat became my favourite Pokémon of all time, I of course looked for merch. Unfortunately, it had been about 7 years since the SM/USUM games came out, so it is absolutely fucking barren out there. Seriously, go on the UK Pokémon Centre right now, they have card packs and a collection of badges and thats it. They haven't even made a sitting cutie for it yet (see? I know what one of the toy lines is. I'm not a fake fan). (EDIT: ALOLAN SITTING CUTIES ANNOUNCED!!! AAAA!!!!) The TCG made 6 cards 0-0 SIX. THEY HAVEN'T EVEN PUT ANY IN POCKET TCG T-T (ALOLAN PACK ANNOUNCED!!! EDIT: Theres 1 torracat card :| ) Everyone has been so excited for shining revelry to get their hands on some shinies but I'm out here begging for an Alolan themed pack (I can't lie I was happy to get a shiny pachirisu. BUT STILL!).

Okay went on a rant there but I'm very impassioned about this creature. I have since started collecting any and all merch I can find, and if not, making it myself. I now have a bootleg Torracat plush that came from a warehouse where they apparently all smoked 20 packs a day because it stank (it's fine now and sat next to me as I type), and several homemade stickers :,D Like I said its bare out there. I pulled a basic Litten card the other day and I've just decided to count that because there is barely anything T-T. Recently, I've had my eye on the 'Pokémon Celebrations 25th Anniversary TCG Mini Tin Alola Region', however, this is rare and expensive :( I've also had my eye on the Mega Construx Pokemon Torracat, but this too is rare, and expensive as fuck (£90??? Seriously random seller on eBay???) I pulled the secret rare full art of terastrilised Eevee the other day and I still can't justify spending this amount of money. Therefore, I am collecting images of all the merch I can find, enjoy:
